I've been big on mountain-biking for a few years since my student days in Leeds when my mates took me riding over some great rough terrain in Dalby Forest and other places in the Dales.
It is fantastic to be able to get out of the city and do something that gets you right away from work. Not that I could think about work even if I wanted to, as you need to concentrate 100% if you are on a tricky technical section. One mistake and you can be in a ditch! The spring is a great time to get out and train as there are some big rides in early summer and you need to get fit. April is good but May can be a real disaster because of my hayfever. I can’t concentrate and get really itchy.
One of the lads used to suffer too and introduced me to Clarityn Allergy (loratadine). Great relief and I can get on with my training without having to worry about hayfever.
If you are a hayfever or allergy sufferer, you may recognize your situation from one, or some, of the following case studies. Please note that the case studies are fictional examples intended to demonstrate symptoms of and possible treatments for, hayfever.
